On any given day, you might head into work after an aerobics class, ride up the elevator thinking about your boss; comparing him to Adolf Hitler, then settle into your desk to review your day’s schedule while taking big slurps of your latte.
Whether or not this is how you start your work day, you probably know someone who does; and you instantly get the hint that wellness is not part of the work culture of those who begin their day with such thoughts.
Let’s face it – for most of us, work constitutes a bigger chunk of our lives.
More and more organizations are beginning to recognize the significance of having well-being programs aimed at improving the mental health and wellness of employees. They’re thinking along these lines not just because they care for their employees but also because they understand the costs associated with these issues.
Across the workforce there is a sense that barriers to good mental health at work need to be eliminated. Many line managers do not have access to mental health training sessions and workshops and therefore they’re unsure of how to handle situations at work where they’re expected to turn their concern into practical support for team members. Companies are waking up to the scale of poor mental health in the workplace, but there is still a long way to go.
At Learning Minds, we are on a mission to make life and work happier and healthier. We co-create unique wellness experiences that empower companies to thrive. Blending the science of positive psychology with a dash of creativity and curiosity, we take great pride in being the co-creators of goodness.
